Charia Rose is a writer, director, and social justice educator.

As an artist from Detroit, Michigan, she firmly believes in art as a means for deep reflection and strives to use it for social change.

A taurus sun, gemini moon, and aquarius rising, she spent her formative years trying every possible activity and then abandoning them around nine months in. The only activities that made the cut were writing fanfiction, watching a stupid amount of TV, and theater. So she really only had one viable career choice.

After graduating from DePaul University’s Digital Cinema program with a Bachelor of Arts in screenwriting and a minor in Peace, Justice, and Conflict Resolution, she threw her mattress onto the side of the highway and made her way to Los Angeles.

A self-proclaimed "Midwestern Baddie," she is dedicated to showing the world that, contrary to popular belief, there ARE black and brown people in the Midwest AND they have amazing, interesting, and multifaceted stories to tell.

She made her directorial debut with the short film WITH(OUT) YOU, and her follow-up project OH GREAT, RILEY’S DEPRESSED AGAIN is on the festival circuit. She was a fellow in the 2020 New York Stage and Film Filmmaker Workshop and is currently an executive story editor on the hit CW show ALL AMERICAN: HOMECOMING.
